Pa. drugstore manager fatally shot in apparent robbery attempt, police look for suspects

(CBS/AP)CHESTER, Pa. - Authorities in southeastern Philadelphia are searching for a man and woman in the shooting death of a drugstore manager during an apparent robbery attempt.

Police in Delaware County say the suspects walked into the Rite Aid in Chester just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

According to CBS Philly, the suspects got into an argument with the store's manager and shot him in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Joe Bail says the case is being investigated as a robbery-homicide.

The station reports the victim has been identified as 40-year-old Jason Scott McClay. He was a navy veteran and was filling in for another manager the night of the homicide.

Authorities said other customers in the store during the shooting rushed out and called police.

According to CBS Philly, police describe the suspects as a woman with light skin in her mid-20s, wearing a red hooded jacket with white stripes on the sleeves, blue jeans and grey sneakers, and a male suspect in his 20s or 30s, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

The Rite Aid Corporation and the Citizens Crime Commission are reportedly offering a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
