Oregon Bomber Suspect Had Date Rape Accusation

Mohamed O. Mohamud, arrested Friday for plotting to attack Portland's Christmas tree lighting ceremony with a van full of explosives, was investigated by Oregon State Police for an alleged date rape in 2009 on the Oregon State University campus.

Mohamud, 19, avoided charges after a woman filed a sexual assault complaint against him claiming she drank something that caused her to black out before having sex with Mohamud in an OSU dormitory room in October 2009, reports the daily Oregonian.

An analysis of the woman's urine failed to show any controlled substances or common pharmaceuticals, reports the Associated Press.

Although Mohamud and other witnesses claim the encounter -- which took place on a top bunk with others in the dorm room -- was consensual, at least one witness, mutual friend Brian Gatimu, told police he attempted to stop Mohamud from taking the woman home, reports the Oregonian.

Mohamud told police that he walked the woman home after the encounter, adding: "On the walk back, when she asked if we had sex, I thought she must have been more drunk than I thought."
