Online Sales Leads: How Long are They Hot?
Every few days, I contacted by somebody trying to sell me health insurance. Why? A few years ago, I filled out an online form to see whether somebody could beat the price I was getting from my agent. I keep getting those calls because I'm still on a list of "hot leads" that the company that harvested my contact data is still selling to various insurance firms.

The correct answer is 5 minutes. More or less. According to exhaustive research conducted by the brillant Dr. James Oldroyd, leads generated from a website have a very short half-life, and are most likely to convert (i.e. are "hot") if the prospect is called within 5 minutes. After about 30 minutes, the lead is almost completely dead.
READERS: I'm curious. Have any of you bought list of "hot leads"? And, if so, were ANY of them actually hot?
