Oleta Adams' 'Window Of Hope'

A fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign, "Love Rocks" is a CD complilation of 32 artists who came together to donate songs that celebrate love, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Mandy Moore, Dolly Parton, Simply Red, Pink, Carol King, and Oleta Adams are just a few of the artists.

And you can hear Adams perform "Window of Hope," the single she offered to the two-disc compilation, on The Saturday Early Show's Second Cup Café.

"I have participated with the HRC for many years," Adams says in a pre-interview. "I have a big gay and lesbian fan base and I'm often asked to sing at their events. They asked me if I would like to participate on this CD and I jumped at the chance. I offered up one of my songs from the 'Evolution' album called 'Window of Hope.' I love to sing music that soothes, calms, and brings people together."

The R&B star points out many of today's young performers don't sing songs that make people cry anymore, but sees in "American Idol" a reverse of that trend.

"'Idol' is forcing performers to go back in time and sing songs from different eras. It's not all about rap and hip-hop anymore.

It was the '80s pop group Tears for Fears who discovered Adams while on tour. She was performing at the Kansas City Hyatt Hotel, where the group was staying.

"They heard me sing with my trio in the lounge late at night," she says, "Two years later, they hunted me down through the hotel and asked me to be a part of their 'Seeds of Love' album. I sang a song with them called 'Women in Chains.' The rest is history."

It's been four years since her last album "All The Love." She has kept busy traveling in numerous countries, performing in theaters, churches, and clubs, as well as enjoying her new hobby: decorating.

"I do love to decorate," she says. "I'm so happy that my husband and I have finally taken some time off. We've been married for 10 years and decided to renovate the house and get some refreshing going on. I love home decorating."

Next for her is a Christmas album.
