Ohio gunman identified in killing of girlfriend, toddler

(CBS/AP) TOLEDO, Ohio - Lake Township police have identified the gunman and victims who died at an apartment complex in northwest Ohio on Tuesday night, the Toledo Blade reports. 

Amber Jones, 26, and her three-year-old son, Jorge Duran III, were shot to death by Jorge Duran, Jr., 24, at the Eastpointe on the Mall complex, Lake Township officials announced at a news conference Wednesday.

Jones is believed to be the estranged girlfriend of the gunman, who allegedly shot and injured three other victims before opening fire on police.

Mark Hummer, the police chief in Lake Township, said officers responded to a reported domestic situation at the apartment complex at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect , Duran,allegedly shot five people in two apartments before coming outside and firing on officers. Two officers returned fire and killed him.

The three other people shot in the apartments were hospitalized. An injured 26-year-old male was found outside of a building in the complex. A 39-year-old woman and a 45-year-old woman were found along with the boy at 3749 Laketon Terrace. The boy was taken to a hospital in the area, where he was pronounced dead.

Police only learned of a possible second crime scene location 20 minutes after they entered the first apartment, where a regional SWAT team found Amber Jones dead.
