Noodling on verge of becoming legal in Texas
(CBS/AP) AUSTIN, Texas - Feel free to look up noodling in the Urban Dictionary, but in Texas it means catching fish with your bare hands.
On Thursday, while budget negotiations were teetering on the brink of collapse, the state Senate approved legislation to make "noodling" - specifically, catching catfish bare-handed - a legal pursuit.
Right now the fine is $500 for noodling in Texas.
The Senate bill would require "noodlers" to have a fishing license and freshwater fishing stamp.
The measure was already passed by the House and is headed for Gov. Rick Perry's desk, where his signature would make it law.
