(CBS News) "Ghostbusters 3" is going ahead without Bill Murray's Dr. Peter Venkman.

In an interview with Metro, Dan Aykroyd confirmed that Murray will not be in the film.

"No, I can tell you he won't be involved," Aykroyd told the paper. "It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation."

"My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."

The film, which he says will be in production next year, will also have a new writer.

Tell us: Do you think "Ghostbusters 3" will still be good without the original cast?
