Nick Carter pays tribute to sister Leslie in concert

(CBS) Nick Carter forged ahead with his scheduled solo show on Thursday night at New York's Irving Plaza, two days after the death of his sister, Leslie Carter.

During the concert, the Backstreet Boy paid tribute to his 25-year-old sister with the song "Falling Down."

"I've never done this before and I never thought I'd ever have to, but I'd like to dedicate this song to my sister," he said, reports People.

Before singing the Backstreet hit, "I Want It That Way," Nick told the audience, "Let's celebrate her life."

Leslie died in upstate New York on Tuesday of an apparent overdose, according to a police report.

Leslie and her 10-month-old baby were staying with her father and stepmother in upstate New York when she died. According to a police report, Leslie's stepmother Ginger became concerned after Leslie spent a long time in the bathroom. She appeared to have fallen in the shower, so Ginger took Leslie into the bedroom, reports People.

A police report reveals that when Leslie's father came home, the Carter sister "was found in the bedroom not breathing or responding." The family tried CPR and then called 911, but Leslie was pronounced dead at the hospital. Read more details about the police report here.
