"This is us in the hospital - role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are," Carey wrote on her website, referring to the couple's children, Monroe and Moroccan.

Carey said they're trying to be "as festive as possible," asking fans to keep Cannon in their thoughts because he's in a lot of pain.

The couple is overall "doing OK," according to the singer, who notes, "the truth is as long as we're together, we're OK. I'm not trying to make light out of the situation because it's a serious moment that's very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers."

Carey and Cannon took their twins to Aspen for the holidays. Less than 24 hours before Cannon checked into the hospital, he posted photos of the family bundled up while walking through the streets of Aspen.
