Nets McIlvaine May Miss Season
New Jersey Nets backup center Jim McIlvaine had shoulder surgery Tuesday and will likely miss the rest of the season.
The team estimated he will require 3½ months for rehabilitation.
McIlvaine had not played since March 17, and was placed on the injured list five days later.
The Nets acquired former Temple center William Cunningham last week to replace McIlvaine on the roster.
McIlvaine played 22 games this year, averaging 2.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a game.
The 7-foot-1 center joined the team in January from Seattle in a trade for center Michael Cage and forward Don MacLean.
