Music festival bans meat to get Morrissey on bill

(CBS) Behold the power of Morrissey. The Belgian music festival Lokerse Feesten, a meat-friendly, sausage-selling 10-day event, wanted the singer, a devout vegetarian, to perform so badly that it's offering only vegetarian food within festival grounds on the day he performs.

According to the BBC, Aug. 4, 2011, is the meat-free day. On its website, the festival writes,

"As more and more people are introducing veggie days in their diet, we considered 1 meatless-day out of 10 Lokerse Feesten days a healthy break for all. Our food stalls will be serving you an array of healthy vegetarian dishes.

The Smiths singer stormed off the stage at Coachella in 2009 because he could "smell burning flesh," reports the BBC.

Morrissey's band The Smiths called its second studio album "Meat is Murder." The Smiths disbanded in 1987 and Morrissey embarked on a successful solo career.
