JONESBORO, Ga. (CBS/WGCL/AP) Police in Georgia have confirmed that the body found in an abandoned building in Jonesboro is that of 17-year-old Monica Ambriz.

The teen disappeared on Oct. 16 while taking a lunch break from her job at a grocery store about 20 miles south of Atlanta.

About three hours later, the teen's mother told Clayton County police she saw an unidentified man driving her daughter's car near Interstate 75.

Her sister, Maria Ambriz, told CBS affiliate WGCL that her family called Monica's cell phone several times on the day she vanished and, eventually, a man answered.

"Before he hanged up, he said he wasn't going to bring her back," Maria Ambriz told the station.

The car was found abandoned minutes later, with the teen's cell phone inside.

A body was found on Oct. 26 in an abandoned building about a mile from where Monica worked, and police said Tuesday that an autopsy confirmed the body was indeed her.

Police decline to say how Monica Ambriz was killed.

Anyone with information on Monica's death is urged to call the Clayton County Police Department at 770-477-3781.
