T-Mobile's Name ID set to launch on cell phones

(CBS) - Watch out pranksters. Caller identification is coming to T-Mobile phones.

Cell phones currently show which of your contact is calling, but there is no caller ID for unsaved numbers. The feature is already used for landlines - as you may recall - but this would be the first time a cell phone carrier is making it available for mobile devices.

Aptly called Name ID, the paid service is already available on the Samsung Exhibit 4G. T-Mobile will be rolling out Name ID this month for several handsets, including the myTouch 4G. But it won't be free to learn the identity of your stalkers. T-mobile users will be able to sign up for $3.99 per month.

The new service was engineered by Cequint, a provider of mobile Caller ID products.
