Miller, Geiger Are Suspended
Philadelphia's Matt Geiger was suspended for two games and Indiana's Reggie Miller for one game for their fight Saturday during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The NBA on Sunday also fined Geiger $20,000, Miller $5,000 and the 76ers team $50,000.
"Teams and coaches will be held accountable for the reckless actions of their players," said Rod Thorn, the NBA executive in charge of discipline.
Geiger and Miller will miss Game 5 Monday in Indianapolis, with the Pacers leading 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. Geiger will also miss Game 6, if necessary, or the first game of next season.
With 1:19 remaining in the third quarter of the 76ers' 92-90 victory Saturday, Geiger knocked Miller to the floor with his second flagrant foul of Miller. Miller jumped up and punched the 7-footer in the face with a left hand.
The 76ers led 79-61 at the time of the ejections, with the Pacers scoring the next 15 points after the fight. Both players left the arena before the game ended.
"I do think they were cheap shots, but at the same time that's playoff basketball," Indiana guard Jalen Rose said.
