Melissa Gilbert suffers mild concussion and whiplash on "DWTS"

(CBS News) Melissa Gilbert was rushed to the hospital after performing a paso doble with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on "Dancing with the Stars."

The  47-year-old actress gave her Twitter followers an update, saying that she'll be fine.

"I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash,wrote Gilbert on the social networking site. "Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."

She tweeted to her partner: "@MaksimC you are my champion. I adore you." Gilbert also thanked singer Gavin Degraw for his help that night: "@GavinDeGraw bless your heart for carrying me down those stairs!"

It was announced on the show that she was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The contestants return tonight for the show's elimination episode at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
