LOS ANGELES (CBS) Despite the headline- grabbing saga between the volatile Mel Gibson and ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, their first day in court in their custody fight was comparatively mellow.

Although no resolution was reached regarding custody of their 1-year-old daughter Lucia, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon did order Gibson to fork over roughly $60,000 in back child support, reports E! News.

According to E!, Gibson had withheld the $20,000 monthly payments while he tried to figure out whether he could subtract the $6,000 he was already paying for the house Grigorieva lives in with her mother and Lucia.

Judge Gordon rejected Gibson's claim that the payment should serve as a deductible.

The judge put off any decision on Grigorieva's attempt to forbid Gibson visitation with their baby girl.

He also refused to enforce a gag order to prevent both parties from discussing details of the case in public.

However, Judge Gordon did agree to seal their depositions, Grigorieva's attorney Martin Garbus told the entertainment news site.

The next hearing for the feuding pair is scheduled for Nov. 22.
