McCotter drops presidential bid, endorses Romney
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., is giving up his long-short Republican presidential bid, the Detroit News reports, and is endorsing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president.
The five-term Michigan congressman launched his presidential campaign in July, but he failed to gain much traction in the polls or secure a spot in the recent Republican debates.
McCotter told the Detroit News he'll run for re-election in his suburban Detroit district, though he faces a primary challenge from Republican state Sen. Mike Kowall.
