(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(NEW YORK) – Taking advantage of being in New York City with the United Nations in session, John McCain is meeting with a number of foreign leaders and paying a visit to some celebrities as well.

This morning, he and his running mate Sarah Palin will be meeting with a couple of leaders of former Soviet republics, President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia and Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko. McCain says he has known Saakashvili for many years and has been an outspoken supporter of Georgia during their recent clash with Russia.

After some foreign policy talk, McCain and Palin will meet with U2 frontman Bono, as he is a supporter of ONE campaign, an international aid organization which Bono co-founded. Then McCain is off to a taping of the "Late Show with David Letterman", a couple of weeks after Barack Obama was a guest on the show.

McCain and Palin wrap up their day by meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, with McCain following that by having one last meeting with Cisco systems CEO John Chambers.
