Man Steals Cop Car So He Can Get Arrested, Deported, Say Idaho Police
JEROME, Idaho (CBS/AP) Police in Idaho say that 38-year-old Guadalupe Cruz-Vasquez marched into the Jerome County Sheriff's office Monday night and demanded to be arrested and deported.
When authorities declined to take the Jerome resident into custody, he walked to a nearby police station, broke the window of a squad car and drove away with the vehicle.
Sgt. Duane Rubink told the Idaho Mountain Express that a cell phone inside the vehicle helped police track the squad car's location.
But police didn't need to stop it - the car ran out of gas.
Rubink says after that Cruz-Vasquez finally got his wish.
