Lynch Laughter Over Health Care
Just last week, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) predicted that Democrats backing the administration's health care reform proposals would be in for "a very, very hot summer." He knew what he was talking about.
During a town hall meeting Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) held with constituents, the audience began laughing and clapping after he mentioned that some Democratic lawmakers were nearly lynched in their districts by protesters opposing the proposed health care overhaul.
"...this particular meeting in a way is a little bit unique. Different people from Washington D.C. have come back to their districts and have town hall meetings and they almost got lynched and so...(laughter and applause)....I assume you're not approving lynchings `cause we don't want to do that (laughter) but the point is people were very upset at some of this legislation and with very good reason they were upset...
