Loss & Hope In California

I'm sure many of you, like myself, have family and friends in Southern California that you are very concerned about as the wild fires continue to rage. This morning on the show, we spoke to a mother of three young kids who really put a face on this crisis.

Christie Williams' oldest child is four and she described to me how gut wrenching it was to watch as their home was captured burning on television. Christie told me that all she wants to do is return to her home and lay her hands on the foundation so that she will know that it's real and that she really has lost everything.

Christie is desperate for any kind of help. She literally needs everything. And like so many, this fire victim said she can feel the warmth and support of people around the country.

One can only hope that these families won't be displaced for a long time, especially with the holidays approaching. It sure makes you grateful for something a lot of us take for granted -- a roof over our heads and a place to call home.
