Lollipop Guild Goes Criminal? La. Toddlers Allegedly Break Into Home, Steal Fudge, Vegetables
The alleged haul of house burglars, ages 3 and 6, in Covington, La. (WWL) WWL

COVINGTON, La. (CBS/WWL) If the criminals get any younger they are going to have to install cribs in the holding cells.

Police in Covington, La., about 35 miles north of New Orleans, say that one of the three hooligans who allegedly broke into a man's home is barely out of diapers, and the other two are at the age when they should be learning their ABC's, not their B and E's.

Capt. Jack West, a spokesman for the Covington Police Department, said that two 6-year-olds and a 3-year-old were discovered in the house around 11 a.m. Saturday by the homeowner, who then called the police, CBS affiliate WWL reported.

Police then found the children playing across from the house and, according to a news release, as officers approached the boys, one of them pulled out what looked like a handgun and put it on the ground. Authorities say it was actually a BB gun.

As officers were speaking to the boys a cousin arrived, according to WWL, who said he was watching the kids while their mother, Sarah Davenport, was attending a parenting class.

(I do believe we've discovered the definition of irony)

The children had lots of stolen items in their possession, including a box of fudge, the board game Candy Land, money, cigarettes, a jar of vegetables and two hammers, all taken from the home, West said.

Well at least they are eating their vegetables, right? Bright side somebody, please.

State law prevented police from arresting any of the children - perhaps because they don't make handcuffs that small - and it is unclear whether any action will be taken against the mother.

Davenport, 26, was informed that she could be held responsible for her tikes' actions, according to West, who said the investigation is ongoing.
