Logan Stevenson, baby boy dying of rare terminal illness, to serve as parents' best man

JEANNETTE, Pa. A western Pennsylvania couple getting married Saturday will have their dying 2-year-old son serve as best man, CBS Pittsburgh station KDKA-TV reports.

Logan Stevenson suffers from a rare terminal illness and has only weeks to live, but his mother and father wanted to make sure he saw them get married.

Christine Swidorsky and Sean Stevenson of Jeannette moved up their wedding date so Logan could take part.

"We got this all together with family and friends," Swidorsky told KDKA-TV. "All the help and donations from everybody, we thank you so much. There's such kind people out there, you don't even know who cares."

Stevenson said, "You know, the only thing that keeps us going is our family and our love, so that's what we're here for, for our son, until God says so."

Logan was born with a rare genetic disorder called fanconi anemia. It often leads to cancer.

The toddler was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and most recently with clear-cell carcinoma after doctors found a tumor on his kidney.

Doctors say he only has weeks to live, so Swidorsky and Stevenson wanted to make sure they could walk down the aisle with him.

"I've learned so much from Logan," said Swidorsky. "He's made me a better person. He's just an angel from heaven, and I'm going to miss him."

Most of the items for the wedding have been donated by friends, family, even strangers.
