"Lincoln": First poster arrives for Spielberg film starring Daniel Day-Lewis

(CBS News) The first theatrical poster has arrived for Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," starring Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th U.S. president.

The poster features a black-and-white side portrait that highlights the remarkable transformation the actor underwent for the film.

"Lincoln" chronicles the last few months of the president's life, as he works to end the Civil War and abolish slavery.

The film also stars Sally Field, David Strathairn , Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones. The screenplay, written by Tony Kushner, is based on the book "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

"Lincoln" will open in limited release on Nov. 9, and then expand nationwide on Nov. 16.
