Lady Gaga reveals name and release date for new album

For Lady Gaga’s fans, the wait is almost over.

The “Perfect Illusion” singer gave her little monsters a taste of what’s to come by revealing the name of her forthcoming album, as well as its release date. And it turns out the new music is coming very soon.

Gaga announced during an interview with Zane Lowe in Beats Radio that her next album, “Joanne,” will be released Oct. 21 -- just over a month away. Gaga said in the interview that she’d be done with the album by this weekend and that a video for “Perfect Illusion” -- directed by fashion photographer and filmmaker Ruth Hogben -- will be out soon.

The album is named after the singer’s late aunt, who died of lupus at age 19 in 1974. Handwriting by Joanne will be included in the album’s booklet, along with personal mementos from Joanne and Gaga’s dad, Joe Germanotta.

The album title is a tribute to Gaga’s aunt Joanne, who was just 19 when she died of lupus in 1974. “Joanna” will mark Gaga’s first solo album since “ARTPOP” in 2013.
