Juliana Redding's Alleged Murderer, Kelly Soo Park, Pleads Not Guilty
LOS ANGELES (CBS) Kelly Soo Park pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the murder of Juliana Redding, who was found beaten to death in her upscale Santa Monica, Calif. apartment in 2008, according to reports.
During Tuesday's hearing it was revealed that a judge has frozen the bank accounts of three people connected to Park, including her mother, a man who was apparently involved in a failed business deal with Juliana's father, and a third man who was arrested with Park but released, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Park's attorney, Kay Rackauckas, acknowledged that the accounts were connected to her client but said he didn't know why they were frozen, according to the paper.
"I don't know why they froze them," Rackauckas told the paper. "It's all a big secret."
Investigators say that Park was paid $250,000 three weeks before the killing and that her family received an additional $113,400 days before Park was arrested.
Prosecutors believe the money came from Park's employer, Dr. Munir Uwaydah, a Marina del Rey physician who was involved in a failed business deal with the victim's father, Greg Redding.
According to the Times, prosecutors also asked that Park's bail amount be raised from $1 million to $5 million, the judge will decide on that motion July 20.
