Jared Leto takes to Snapchat as the Joker

Leave it to the "clown prince" of crime to make the most of April Fools' Day.

The marketing team behind next year's super-villain team-up flick "Suicide Squad" released a Joker-themed filter for Snapchat, so of course Jared Leto -- who plays the maniacal bad guy in the film -- had to take it out for a spin.

First, a gaunt and bearded Leto appeared in a filtered Snapchat video, mugging for the camera. He then followed that up with a surprise announcement: "Guess what? Batman is dead. BwwahahahaaaaaaaHAA!!!" -- along with a too little, too late "spoiler alert" hashtag.

The April 1 date aside, his posts might have given some fans pause, since the film was reportedly undergoing reshoots starting last week following the release of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

But those reshoots were rumored to be making the film lighter and funnier, so killing off the Caped Crusader probably wouldn't be the best idea.
