Janitor charged in murder of woman found in California office

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- A man was charged with murder Monday in the killing of a woman whose body was found in a Newport Beach, Calif., office complex where the suspect worked as a janitor, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Nain Hernandez, 29, was expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Santa Ana, according to the District Attorney's Office. He is charged in the Dec. 29 death of 23-year-old Sarai Alcaraz, who police say worked as a professional escort for Cyren Entertainment, an "adult entertainment agency."

Authorities have not disclosed how Alcaraz was killed. An autopsy was performed on Dec. 30, but the cause of death is pending further investigation and toxicology tests.

Police received a call at 12:11 a.m. on Dec. 29 requesting a welfare check, and officers went to the business complex, said Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella. The welfare request came from Alcaraz's driver, according to a law enforcement source.

Police would not say whether the body bore signs of trauma.

Hernandez pleaded guilty in October 2010 to "knowingly possessing false government documents," some of which were "illegally obtained" from the Department of Motor Vehicles, according to court records. He was arrested in Tustin for driving without a valid driver's license.

Hernandez faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted in Alcaraz's death.
