(CBS) Rap artist Heavy D will be laid to rest at the end of the week. The viewing will take place Nov. 17 at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, N.Y., followed by the wake, reports the New York Daily News. The next day, there will be private funeral service with family and friends.
Among the guests expected to attend are Sean (Diddy) Combs, Mary J. Blige and Eddie F and G-Whiz, former members of the 90s group Heavy D and the Boyz, according to TMZ.
An autopsy has been completed, but officials won't provide a preliminary cause of death until toxicology tests are out. It could take up to six weeks to get those results.
Heavy D was on his way home from a shopping trip on Nov. 8 in Los Angeles when he had difficulty breathing and collapsed outside his home. The New York native, born Dwight Arrington Myers, died that same day at a Los Angeles hospital. He was 44.
A spokesman for the county coroner said Heavy D went to the doctor the day before he died because of flu-like symptoms. He weighed 344 pounds at the time of his death.
Heavy D's cousin Ruddy Phillips told the Daily News, "He had a touch of pneumonia, maybe from traveling. He just got back from England."
