COLORADO CITY, Texas (CBS/KTAB) Investigators searching for Hailey Darlene Dunn, the West Texas cheerleader who has been missing since Dec. 28, have now named her mother's former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, as a "person of interest" in the case after reviewing cell phone records and a failed polygraph test.

Hailey, 13, was reported missing by her mother, Billie Dunn, in Colorado City, Texas, about 200 miles west of Fort Worth, setting off a multi-county search involving the FBI and Texas Rangers.

Investigators believe Adkins was untruthful when questioned about his knowledge of Hailey's whereabouts. Particularly interesting are phone records that seem to "dispute" Adkins' claims that he was visiting his mother about 40 miles away the morning Hailey disappeared, according to police affidavits obtained by CBS affiliate KTAB.

Witnesses said Adkins left work at 6:10 a.m. on Dec. 28, and Adkins told investigators he went straight to his mother's house in Big Spring.  But records show calls from Adkins' cell phone were placed from Colorado City between 6:35 a.m. and 6:56 a.m., according to the affidavit.

"According to all reports, Hailey Dunn would have been alone in the residence during this time period," the affidavit said, noting that witnesses and records show Billie Dunn had left the home for work at 6:20 a.m.

The police affidavits also said Adkins had previously threatened his girlfriend and her daughter. Billie Dunn said Wednesday that the couple had broken up before and that Adkins said some "ugly things," but never threatened Hailey's life, the station reported.

But Adkins is not the only one who failed a polygraph - Billie Dunn walked out of the first test and apparently failed the second one, according to the affidavits obtained by KTAB.

Police have not named Dunn a person of interest but they have issued search warrants for her car and home, where they found printouts of at least 16 different articles related to sex crimes and serial killings, some of them involving adolescents.

Dunn, in the affidavits, described her interest in true crime cases as "a hobby."

Speaking with KTAB, Dunn said she hopes that speculation about her personal life doesn't distract from finding her daughter.

"The important thing people need to remember is not slandering me," said Dunn. "The important thing is there is a 13-year-old who it seems just disappeared into thin air."

Hailey Dunn is a white female, described as 5'1, 120 pounds with hazel eyes, and brown hair with blondish streaks.

Anyone with information regarding Hailey's whereabouts is urged to call the Colorado City Police Department at 325-728-5294 or 325-728-3161.
