The Saturday service, held in a church just north of New York City, also was attended by actors Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase and Edward James Olmos, former tennis star John MacEnroe and musican Paul Shaffer. Close sang and "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David spoke during the ceremony, according the church program.
Mary's estranged husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., delivered the eulogy.
She was buried in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville, Mass., later Saturday.The 52-year-old architectural designer and environmentalist was found dead of an apparent suicide Wednesday at the family's estate in Bedford. Her death followed a difficult two years, during which her husband filed for divorce and she was charged twice with driving while intoxicated.
The family will also be remembering Mary at a memorial service on Monday night at a hotel on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
