Georgia Plant Shooting Leaves 1 Dead

A gunman fired three rounds at a woman in a car outside a medical supplies manufacturing plant in Georgia Tuesday before turning the gun on himself, police say.

Officials say the man was killed but the woman was responsive at the scene, according to CBS affiliate WRDW in Augusta, Ga.

Authorities are calling it a murder-suicide attempt and identified the shooter as Alif Gilbert from Girard, Ga. Police say Gilbert knew the victim, Tiffany Bush, 27. She was hit by only one bullet, which went behind her ear, fractured her skull and exited without penetrating her brain cavity. She's expected to make a full recovery, according to investigators.

The shooting comes a day after a man angry about a child custody dispute with his girlfriend shot her outside the New Mexico manufacturing plant where she works, then forced his way inside and killed two employees before turning the gun on himself. The girlfriend remains in critical condition.
