"GCB" brings drama to Dallas
(CBS) This weekend, drama is heading to Dallas.
The Texas city is the setting for ABC's new soap "GCB," which makes its midseason debut Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
Originally titled "Good Christian Bitches" (after the Kim Gatlin novel it's based on), then "Good Christian Belles and now "GCB," the series focuses on Amanda (Leslie Bibb), a former mean girl turned mother of two, who moves back to her hometown after the scandalous death of her Ponzi-scheming husband.
Now living with her high-maintenance mother (Annie Potts), Amanda must face the women she wronged in high school. That includes Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth), a former nerd and frequent target of Amanda's, who is now Dallas' reigning queen bee. Jennifer Aspen, Miriam Shor and Marisol Nichols play her fellow GCBs.
Cockburn, Chenoweth told CBSNews.com last year, is "sort of the nerd, ugly duckling in high school, who reinvented herself. And she's not having this girl coming back and taking over."
Reviews of the show have been mixed, with some praising the over-the-top mix of soap and satire, while others say the plot is trite and full of cliches.
Tell us: Will you tune in for "GCB"?
