Torrealba, 18, had just begun her undergraduate studies at Florida International University, where she was interested in studying law and politics. She attended G. Holmes Braddock high school in Miami, where she was a member of the debate team and a top student, according to her parents and friends.

Juan Carlos Portieles, aka DJ Seasunz, told police he choked Torrealba to death after the two got into an argument on Sunday, Oct. 11, then drove around town with her dead body in the passenger seat, according to the arrest warrant. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

The G. Holmes Braddock debate team will host a car wash for the grieving family on Oct. 19 at the student parking lot, 3601 SW 147th Avenue and will begin at 9 a.m.
