Cops: Florida man says he stabbed father who wanted to circumcise him

MIAMI — Police say a Florida man stabbed his father in the neck and told investigators he was angry that his father wanted to circumcise him, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Alex Fultz, 20, was arrested Sunday on a charge of attempted felony murder. According to a police report, Fultz’s father was asleep on a sofa in his bedroom when Fultz, armed with a knife, entered and stabbed his father in the neck. Police said Fultz then dropped the knife and left.

Fultz allegedly told police that his father wanted to cut foreskin off Fultz’s penis, and Fultz was scared that it would hurt. It is not clear why Fultz’s father would want to circumcise him, but Fultz said his father didn’t want to take him to a urologist.

Soon after the stabbing, Fultz approached officers with both hands in the air, and was arrested.

“Don’t shoot. Don’t shoot,” Fultz told the officers, according to the police report. “I’m the one who stabbed my dad.”

The victim was airlifted to a hospital and is expected to survive. It is not clear how severe his injuries are.

Police said Fultz has been diagnosed as schizophrenic, bipolar and autistic. He was being held in jail without bond.
