Fashionistas Flock to "Sex" Casting Call

It won't be released until next year, but there's already a buzz about the "Sex and the City" sequel.

CBS News correspondent Bianca Solorzano was outside the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City Tuesday morning, where they were casting extras for the film.

Some die-hard fans woke up at 3:30 a.m. just to have a chance to land a role as an extra.

Many women claim that the film, based on the popular TV series
about a female foursome known for friendship, fashion, and, of course, sex, captures what it's like to live in New York City as a single woman.

The silver-screen sequel was the talk at Manolo Blahnik - the store where the character Carrie Bradshaw satisfied her stiletto obsession.

"I love Manolos," a shopper told Solorzano. "I'm buying five pairs. My husband doesn't know that, but I guess he'll find out!"

"Never tell the husband!" Solorzano replied.

The open casting call is looking for extras ranging from international types, to clubgoers and socialites.

"You're going to see a lot of women trying to emulate the fashionable looks you see in 'Sex and the City.' You're going to see so many fashionistas at this casting call, you'll think it's the movie itself," said David Caplan, senior editor at People Magazine.

And there's bound to be a colorful cast of Carrie wanna-bes with high-heeled hopes at the audition.

Not all casting calls go so smoothly however. A recent casting call for
"America's Next Top Model" in New York City turned into a stampede.

"Casting calls for reality shows have a history of getting a little bit out of hand," Caplan said. "So at today's casting call, it's going to be interesting to see the chaos that ensues."

And talk about fashion, listen to the brands of shoes extra hopefuls wore to the audition - BCBG and Versace, among others.

"And in honor of today, I'm wearing my new Manolos, and my husband knows about them!" Solorzano said.

The "Sex and the City" sequel is scheduled to be released in May 2010. The fab foursome, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Kim Cattrall, are all signed on to return.
