Enqvist Stays Strong At Open

Sweden's Thomas Enqvist ended Nicolas Lapentti's Australian Open dream run on Thursday, downing the tired Ecuadorean 6-3, 7-5, 6-1.

Enqvist reached his first grand slam tournament final with a minimum of fuss, dominating the Melbourne Park match with a powerful service game and a varied array of groundstrokes.

Enqvist will play for the title Sunday against the winner of Friday's match between Russia's Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Germany's Tommy Haas.
