"We do have an invitation," John said. "I've been trying to be discreet."
Palace officials say invitations have been sent to approximately 1,900 guests but the names have not been released.
John, who was a friend of William's mother, Princess Diana, and sang his song "Candle In the Wind" at her funeral in 1997, talked about the bride-to-be, saying he doesn't believe Middleton is "Diana in personality."
"She is very discreet," John said. "She is a very beautiful girl. She's been in the spotlight for so long now and she's handled it so well."
He also shared his thoughts on William's decision to give Diana's blue sapphire and diamond ring to Middleton when he popped the question.
"It is none of my business, but I thought it was a little odd," said John.
