Drunk Delivers Head-Butt to Preacher Who Delivered Sermon, Say Fla. Cops
DELAND, Fla. (CBS/WKMG/AP) Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not head-butt?
Police arrested a central Florida man after he displayed what some may call "un-godly" conduct early Saturday morning, when he head-butted a street preacher.
Nicholas Peck of Volusia County was near the Half Time sports bar when the self-styled minister, Barnard Courtney Jr., apparently called Peck a sinner, reported CBS affiliate WKMG. Taking exception to the description, Peck began to scuffle with the preacher, which included delivering a head-to-head blow.
Deland, Fla. police arrested Peck, 20, on misdemeanor battery charges. He was later released on a $500 bond, according to WKMG.
A police report indicated the suspect was drunk. Apparently he was looking for a stiff drink - not judgment.
Area police say the incident is the latest in an increase in disputes involving street preachers and bar-goers, who seem to be in no mood for a sermon.
