Driving While Stupid: YouTube Catches Street Race Crash, Insurance Firm Catches YouTube
DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (CBS/AP) Jay and Tracy Chen, a brother and sister from Southern California, have been arrested on suspicion of insurance fraud after investigators found a YouTube video that appears to show their sports car being crashed during an illegal street race.
Investigators say 21-year-old Jay Chen and his 29-year-old sister, Tracy, both of Diamond Bar, Calif., east of Los Angeles, initially gave conflicting reports about what caused $76,000 in damage to Jay's 2009 Nissan GT-R supercar.
After the video was discovered on Web, prosecutors charged Jay Chen with six counts of felony insurance fraud and his sister with one count.
They were booked March 5 and both face prison time and fines if they are convicted.
