Actress Shannen Doherty said she wants to sue Star magazine for a recent cover story about her that implied that she went under the knife.

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum told the hosts of "The View" this week that she cried when she saw the unsightly picture of herself on the cover of the magazine with a headline that screamed: "Shannen Doherty's Extreme Makeover!"

Doherty, who was a guest host on the ABC show on Monday and Tuesday, said she was humiliated by the story and was "sobbing uncontrollably" when her hairdresser showed her the article. She also said that production on her new Oxygen show "Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty" was stopped for more than an hour because she was so upset.

In the recent story, Star talked to three plastic surgeons and asked for their expert opinions on Doherty's face. "The lower portion of the implant seems visible on the left side," one surgeon told Star. "As aging progresses, this is an area where fat should be settling — and that sharply defined shape is not natural."

"Her mouth seems out of proportion. It looks like she's had a one-piece implant, as opposed to injected filler," another surgeon said.

On "The View," Doherty insisted that she had not gone under the knife. "I'm willing to put as much money behind a lawsuit as humanly possible, just to sort of teach them a lesson," she said.

The actress said on the show that she had hired a litigator. A rep for Doherty did not respond to a request by for confirmation of her legal plans.
