ONTARIO, Calif. -- A woman has been arrested after a dog died after being left in her hot car in Ontario Sunday, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Police say they found two dogs and a cat in Jennifer Lynn Arriaga's parked car, in which temperatures topped 110 degrees.
Officers immediately broke the car windows to try to rescue the animals. But one of the dogs died.
Police said they didn't know how long the animals were in the car.
The second dog and the cat survived but were in severe distress, according to the Inland Valley Humane Society.
Veterinarians are now caring for the two surviving animals.
The 42-year-old San Dimas, California woman was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and was being held on $100,000 bail.
