Under the creative direction of Greek designer Sophia Kokosalaki, the western-inspired spring 2011 collection of Diesel Black Gold was debuted Monday at New York's Pier 92.

Models walked along a runway backed by sundrenched windows which was reminiscent of the California landscapes and music festivals - both themes that infused the collection.

Sitting in the front row was "Twilight's" Julia Jones and "Boardwalk Empire's" Paz De La Huerta. Also in attendance was fashion blogger Bryan Boy, along with French actresses Lou Doillon and Elisa Sednaoui.

Overall, the collection was neutral in tone. A blend of tailored leather and suede jackets in rich, earthy hues were presented beside structured pants and dresses in leafy motifs and rustic patterns. Hair was kept voluminous and makeup was soft in a taupe palate.

Diesel called the collection an ode to the wild creativity of the West Coast arts and crafts movement, the free spirit of rock festivals and the sun-drenched landscapes of California, as seen through the eyes of Kokosalaki.
