The Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Convention organizers hoped for a show of unity on Monday. But the convention opened with controversy over an email leak that forced out party chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Why Bernie Sanders supporters booed at his rally 05:20

"The Bernie Sanders voters are angry about the DNC trying to control events," said John Dickerson, host of "Face the Nation."

It will be up to Sanders himself in his speech on Monday night to help mend the party divide and get supporters on board with Clinton's message, Dickerson continued.

"There are a lot of themes convention planners want to get to -- optimism, togetherness, Hillary Clinton's record. They want to sow seeds of doubt about Donald Trump. But they cant get to that until the buzzing about Bernie Sanders stops."
