Dead baby found in car was birthed by Ohio teen, police say; no arrests made
(CBS/AP) SHELBY, Ohio - An Ohio police chief says a 17-year-old told officers that she was the one who gave birth to a baby whose remains were found in a box in the trunk of a car at a repair shop.

Shelby police Chief Charlie Roub says the teen told investigators Tuesday night that she didn't know she was pregnant and gave birth at home in late January or early February.
The Mansfield News Journal reports the infant's body was inside a copy paper box in the trunk of the car taken to a northern Ohio repair shop. According to the paper, Roub says it is unclear whether the baby was stillborn.
Investigators say a mechanic found the infant's body on Tuesday after noticing an odor coming from the trunk.
Roub says the girl is a local resident who has not been taken into custody. The car where the remains were found reportedly belongs to one of her family members.
Police say the girl knows who the father is and gave them his name.
"We're not sure if he was aware she was pregnant. Our indication is that he did not know," the police chief told the paper.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted on the baby and authorities hope this will provide some insight into a cause of death.
