Tuesday morning, Dave found himself in at a ranch in Denver. How did he get there?

Monday, he woke up in Albuquerque, N.M. at a balloon festival, and hoped to hitch a ride in the skies, but he decided against it, because he didn't know where he'd land.

That's when Dave met the Hanson brothers, Francis and David, who picked him up in their car, and took him part of the way to the Mile High City. Then, Dave hitched a ride with motorist Howard Fishman, who said he would take Dave anywhere if he would help him raise money for cancer research.

Fishman, who lost his mother to cancer, told Dave about his family's walk every year in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, as he drove Dave into Denver.

But where would Dave spend the night? Outside -- again?

Luckily, he found a place to rest indoors, sleeping on a ranch in Highlands Ranch, Colo. But the room, Dave pointed out, came with a hefty price. He had to shovel out the barn's stalls in exchange for the accommodations.
