Courtney Love Suing Stalker

Alleges Boyfriend's Ex-Wife Cost Her Movie Role
Complaint Seeks Damages In Excess Of $1.5 Million, Protection
Love, 36, Widow Of Nirvana Singer, Kurt Cobain

Courtney Love, widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain is fed up with her present boyfriend's ex-wife who has not only been stalking her but claims the woman ran over her foot and cost her a movie role.

Courtney Love is suing her boyfriend's ex-wife, claiming the woman ran over her foot in a Volvo, costing her a movie role and is "on a mission to destroy her."

The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit claims Lesley Barber is "obsessed" with Love because she blames the singer-actress for the end of her marriage to Jim Barber.

The complaint, filed Dec. 15, alleges assault, battery, trespassing, infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy. It seeks damages in excess of $1.5 million and an injunction against Barber to "prevent further harm."

Barber has an unlisted number in Los Angeles and could not be reached for comment Thursday.

Love claims that since April 1999, Barber has engaged in a "campaign of stalking and harassment" against her, hiring private investigators to spy on her, pestering her with prank calls and threats, and, on June 4, driving straight at her in a Volvo. Love says she jumped out of the way but the car rolled over her foot.

As a result, Love says, she was unable to complete physical training for the upcoming film John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars, and lost the role. Natasha Henstridge now stars in the movie, which is due in theaters in August.

Love, the 36-year-old lead singer of the band Hole and widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, has appeared in films including The People vs. Larry Flynt and Sid and Nancy.
