Cops: Md. mall shooter assembled shotgun in dressing room
COLUMBIA, Md. - Maryland police say a shotgun used in a deadly attack at a Columbia shopping mall was assembled in the dressing room of the skateboard shop where the rampage took place.
Howard County police said on their Twitter account Wednesday that investigators believe Darion Aguilar entered the mall with the 12-gauge shotgun disassembled in a backpack and then put the weapon together once inside the store.
Police say the 19-year-old Aguilar on
Saturday killed two employees of Zumiez, a skateboard gear shop, and then took
his own life. Detectives are trying to determine a motive, but according to CBS Baltimore, police say it is evident from
the gunman’s handwritten journals that he knew he was having mental issues.
Police say he had hung out often at the mall.
Also Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the company said Aguilar had never been a Zumiez employee and there's no record of him having ever applied for a job.
