Classic Cocktails, with Festive Twists

Celebrating the holidays can require a splash of this, a twist of that. Indeed, 'it's the season - to make some great mixed drinks!

So, if you want to add some real punch to your next holiday party, how about adding creative fun twists to some classic cocktails?

On "The Early Show" Wednesday, award-winning mixologist Charlotte Voisey shared recipes for some very tasty drinks! These would ensure that you're the perfect hostess or host during the holidays.

A legend in bartending circles, Voisey is an expert British mixologist who has created drinks and run bars in cities as far-flung as Barcelona, Buenos Aires, London and New York.

"Early Show" Recipes Galore!


- Inspired by Dicken's A Christmas Carol
- Punch is great for parties and large gatherings

3 teacups of Hendrick's gin
3 teacups of Madeira wine
3 cloves
Pinch of grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
6 large lemon and orange twists
Small slice of orange
1 fresh pineapple
4 large spoons of honey
Juice of 2 lemons

Mix all the ingredients in saucepan and place on the heat. Let the mixture simmer without boiling for 20-30 minutes. Add honey and lemon to taste.


- You'll see these drinks are all created with ingredients that are easily found in any grocery and are typically found in your home during the holidays already -- rosemary, cranberries, etc.

1 1/2 oz Milagro Silver Tequila
3/4 oz Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur
1 oz Blood Orange Juice
1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Agave Nectar

Combine ingredients and shake well
Strain over Christmas ice cubes** in a rocks glass
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and some cranberries

Ice Cubes:

In a silicon ice tray place 3 or 4 pomegranate seeds and 2 loose mint leaves in each cube and fill with filtered water, freeze over night
You can switch up the fruit you use - red and green makes for a great Christmas treat!

- Very indulgent -- like drinking your dessert!

1 1/2 oz Balvenie 21 Portwood
1/4 oz Cognac - any brand best to serve from a small glass jug
1/4 oz Cherry Brandy - any brand or cherry heering - best to serve from a small glass jug
1/4 oz fresh lime juice

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a real cherry and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.


- With so many variations of martinis, here's another fun one

1 1/2 oz Stolichnaya or Sailor Jerry
1 oz pomegranate juice
3/4 oz falernum (specialty syrup made with spices, ginger and lime, key tiki ingredient)
3/4 oz fresh lime juice

Combine ingredients and shake well
Garnish with a lime shell (after it has been squeezed) full with pomegranate seeds and a piece of mistletoe
"Sip me quick"


- Interpretation of a screwdriver ("fancy screwdriver")

2 Pieces Of Ginger Root (each the size of a quarter) OR 1/2 oz Ginger Syrup
2 Large Bar Spoons Of Rich Fig Preserves
1 oz Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

In the order above, combine ingredients and shake very well.
Serve up in a cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of fresh fig OR orange wheel.
