'Chicago' Stars Re-Razzle Dazzle

Original stars of "Chicago," Broadway's longest running revival, will reunite Nov. 14 for a special 10th anniversary performance that will also feature other performers who have appeared in the hit musical.

Among those returning to the show will be the production's original Roxie Hart, Ann Reinking, as well as cast mates Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, Joel Grey and Marcia Lewis.

Among the other "Chicago" alumni appearing in the gala will be Melanie Griffith, Brooke Shields, Patrick Swayze, Marilu Henner and Chita Rivera. More names will be announced later.

The benefit performance at the Ambassador Theatre will raise funds for Safe Horizon, a national victim assistance organization, producers Barry and Fran Weissler said Wednesday.

"It's an amazing testament to the genius of the creators, Bob Fosse and John Kander and Fred Ebb, that our production of 'Chicago' has played over 4,500 performances and will celebrate its 10th year," Barry Weissler said.

The revival of "Chicago" opened in November 1996 and won six Tony Awards including the Tony for best musical revival. The original production of "Chicago" had a two-year run on Broadway in the mid-1970s.
